Gentle Gel Cleanser

A low-foam daily cleanser built for the way skin actually behaves in Nairobi — sunscreen in the morning, dust and matatu exhaust by evening, and hard water at the tap.

The formula uses a mild amphoteric surfactant system rather than sulphates, so it lifts sebum, SPF and particulate grime without stripping the lipid barrier underneath. Skin should feel clean and comfortable afterwards, never tight or squeaky. It is pH balanced to roughly 5.5, which matters more than most marketing admits: cleansers that sit too alkaline leave the barrier temporarily compromised and are a common hidden cause of the tightness and flaking people blame on their moisturiser.

It is fragrance-free, essential-oil free and dye-free. If you use retinoids, azelaic acid or benzoyl peroxide, a fragrance-free cleanser removes one of the most common sources of irritation from your routine.

How to use it: dispense one to two pumps into dry hands, massage over dry skin for thirty seconds, then add a little water to emulsify before rinsing. On days you have worn sunscreen or makeup, use it as the second step of a double cleanse after an oil or balm. Once daily in the evening is enough for dry or sensitive skin; twice daily suits oilier skin or anyone training in the heat.

Suitable for normal, oily, combination and sensitive skin. Safe to use while pregnant or breastfeeding. Not tested on animals.

Each bottle is 200ml, which works out to roughly two months of nightly use. Store it out of direct sun — a bathroom shelf is fine, a car dashboard is not.
